Finding Class Limits(free online tutoring for statistics)
Let me help you to find the class limits:
Problem:
The class marks of a distribution are 26, 31, 36, 41, 51, 56, 61, 66, 71. Find the class limits?
Class size = 31 - 26 = 5
Half of class size = 5/2 = 2.5
Therefore Lower Class Limits are 26 - 2.5 = 23.5
31 - 2.5 = 28.5
36 - 2.5 = 33.5 and so on...
Upper Class Limits are 26 + 2.5 = 28.5
31 + 2.5 = 33.5
36 + 2.5 = 38.5 and so on...
Class Limits of given class marks are
23.5 - 28.5
28.5 - 33.5
33.5 - 38.5
38.5 - 43.5
43.5 - 48.5
48.5 - 53.5
53.5 - 58.5
58.5 - 63.5
63.5 - 68.5
68.5 - 73.5
Finding Range:free online tutoring for statistics
Problem: In an exam, 10 students scored the following marks in English and Math. Calculate the range in each case:
English 77 52 60 49 35 39 55 62 89 68
Mathematics 42 65 53 58 62 68 74 54 79 66
Solution:
Marks of ten students in English are 77, 52, 60, 49, 35, 39, 55, 62, 89, 68
Highest marks in English = 89
Lowest marks in English = 35
Range of marks in English = 89 - 35 = 44
Marks of ten students in Math are: 42, 65, 53, 58, 62, 68, 74, 54, 79, 66
Highest marks in Math = 79
Lowest marks in Math = 52
Range of marks in Math = 79 - 52 = 27

Finding Mean :
Problem : Find the mean of all prime numbers less than 20.
Solution: The prime numbers less than 20 are 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17 and 19
Total number of observations: 8
Mean = Sum of all prime numbers / Total Number of observations
= (2 + 3 + 5 + 7 + 11 + 13 + 17 + 19) / 8
= 77 / 8
= 9.625
So, the mean of all prime numbers less than 20 = 9.625

Problem:
The points scored by a basket ball team in ten matches are:
34, 42, 31, 37, 53, 56, 56, 51, 105 and 69
Find the mode:
Solution: First arrange the given scores in ascending order
31, 34, 37, 42, 51, 53, 56, 56, 69, 105
The score 56 is repeated the maximum number of times ( twice)
Hence, the mode = 56
